Livelihood Generation through Aquaponics
Livelihood Generation through Aquaponics
A Bio-Integrated System Using Azolla pinnata as Natural Food
The residents of Phanda block villages do not have any primary support from the river, and the water level also drops during the summer season, therefore, the people generally migrate to other districts for livelihood and wages. Aquaponics is a low-cost technique that utilizes less water to provide a good outcome — it would be a wonderful opportunity for the people of Phanda block to learn this unique method for generating income as well as livelihood.
Training on Aquaponics and Hydroponic Farming Systems
Field's demonstration and training activities focused on providing comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience.
The Training Course Includes:
- Basics of Agriculture
- Making Green Houses
- Organic Farming
- Hydroponics
- Aquaponics
- Aquaponics NFT Farming
- Aquaponics Raft Farming
- Aquaponics Vertical Farming
- Integrated Pest Management
- Demonstration of Automation
- Making Own Aquaponic Farming System
Aquaponics Class (2-Day)
The Aquaponics class is a combination of face-to-face lessons and hands-on training in the greenhouse, held for 2 days. This Aquaponics class is suitable for those who want to see-and-touch actual Aquaponics.
- Low-cost Equipment Setup: Learn how to make your own low-cost fish tanks, grow beds, sumps and filter tanks.
- Process and Troubleshoot: Stocking of fish seeds, their rearing and harvesting as well as growing of plants and their harvesting.
- Practical Training: The training includes a visit to a small Aquaponic farm, practical demonstrations of germination, transplantation, making of a couple of units of Hydroponics setups, etc.
The field demonstrations and training activities would be "hands-on" type ensuring practical to perform various operations for Integrated-Aquaponic crop productions. Experts from relevant fields would be invited for imparting activities on various aspects.
Formation of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO/Self-Help Groups)
After completion of Phase-1 we will find 100 other beneficiaries (farmers) for demonstration, training and giving knowledge about aquaponics. We will also guide them to market linkage and bank linkage. This process will be repeated after completing the training.
Entrepreneurship and Skill Development
Entrepreneurship and Skill development programme were adopted as rural community (SHGs) entrepreneurs play important role after being trained in induced seed rearing techniques and fish seed production. Technology development and dissemination of water harvest from monsoon and rainwater, application of organic fertilizers and absence of chemicals and antibiotics with zero water exchange could be sound technology package for the weaker section and rural community entrepreneurs.
